Immigrant Crisis

Afghanistan Crisis Story

In 2021, Afghanistan was plunged into chaos as the Taliban took control, prompting international agencies to withdraw and the economy to collapse. Countless Afghans lost their jobs, and the situation only worsened in the summer of 2022 when an earthquake and flooding destroyed homes and crops. A harsh winter followed, with temperatures dropping below 0°F, leaving many families unprepared. They faced a dire dilemma: should they spend their limited income on fuel for heating, risking starvation, or sacrifice warmth to buy food, risking freezing to death?
